What the fuck is "Two Bartenders"

About a year or so ago an inside joke was born. That joke was "Two Bartenders"

Crash test comedy (a weekly open mic comedy show) started at a now dead bar (Broncos). The bar was split into two areas, the main bar, and the show room where we performed. The show room had a small bar but it was empty and unattended. (they probably could've opened it but I guess it wasn't busy enough for them to bother to use it, I mean they are closed now...just saying)
Anyways..
I turned to fellow comic Derek Adams and while pointing at the empty bar said "let's stand back there and pretend to be bartenders"
From there we riffed the idea of Two Bartenders. I'll give you the bullet points on it because this post is probably already jam packed with all sorts of writing errors...give me a break tho...I'm writing this on an iPhone 4! It's generations behind...I aint got no time for proper writings.

Two Bartender
-Is a sitcom poking fun at sitcoms
-we only had one joke at conception and that joke was two bartenders working at one bar
-"hey most bars have two or even more bartenders that isn't a joke"
-It's a meta idea, in this sitcom world nobody is able to wrap there head around Two Bartenders ("If I order a drink will I have to pay twice?!")
-The two bartenders are polar opposites. One is a carefree bachelor and the other is a married, very reserved, clean cut fellow
That is the gist of it. Still confused? Good! You should be! This was just the very basic idea of Two Bartenders it goes a lot deeper. Maybe one day we will make a youtube series of Two Bartenders and you can countiue to be confused at a joke that's probably only funny to Two Bartenders.

Updates and attempts to post more

Ok..I haven't updated my blog since the end of last year! (Fuck me, right) I now have the app on my phone so I will hopefully be able to post a little more.

Let's see now.. I last left you with a post talking about how I am going to write an hour of material this year (5 mins a month) How is that going you ask? Well speaking honestly it's almost the end of March and I don't have 15mins of new material :s It's been a bit of a challenge but that's not to say nothing good has come from it. I still have come up quite a few new/hilarious bits and the exercise of writing/performing new material more often has drastically improved my skills as a comedian. I'm currently working in a brand new set of jokes along with another few projects. Time will tell :)

Year Of The Comedian 2014

Looking back 2013 has been a great year! I've done more stand-up comedy this year than I ever have. I've gotten better and better every time I've stepped foot on a stage. I've been on a ton of adventures, made new friends and gathered many stories. It's easy to look back on the year and see all that was positive and wonderful about it, however it is important to look at what needs improvement moving into 2014.
I was lazy far too often. Procrastination and I were good pals. The amount of time I could waste watching the same TV show I've seen a million times before instead of doing something productive is ridiculous. I dare say that I could have achieved much more if I would've overcome my laziness. This is something I intend to curve starting now. (That's not to say that I'll never be lazy. I'm bound to have some weeks were it can't be helped but I will make an honest effort to be productive more often and get into a new pattern of thinking)
When you look at the most successful comedians (Louis CK, Bill Burr, etc) you'll notice that one of the things they have in common is that they work hard (like ridiculously hard). So for 2014 in the spirit of working hard and improving as a comedian I intend to write an hour of material which equals up to about 5 mins of material every month . This isn't really an insane idea, many comedian practice this system. I'm choosing to do this for a few reasons:

1. It will be a challenge for me. I don't have the luxury of getting stage time 500 times a day so I'm hoping this will force me to go out and seek stage time more frequently.

2. It will force me to write. I procrastinate writing all of the time, having a deadline and a goal will give me more motivation.

3. It'll force me to move out of my comfort zone and expand into different comedy styles.

4. Most importantly it'll help me get better overall as a comedian.

Successfully writing an hour isn't really my goal. It doesn't really matter if I succeed or not as long as a give an honest/best effort. The point of this challenge is for me to improve as a comedian and to learn to get into the same mindset that successful comedians have.

Let's do it
(I'm aware that this blog is probably jam-pack with grammatical errors and other fuck ups...but whatever I'm not a novelist....It's still written better than a youtube comment)
